Jason Shepherd grew up in Houston, Texas, the youngest child of US Attorney Jack Shepherd and his wife Joyce. Jason accepted a scholarship to play football at Kansas University, later transferring to Texas A&M and eventually graduating with a degree in history and classical studies. He then went to Dallas Theological Seminary where he earned a master of theology (ThM) degree. His senior year, he won the J. Elwood Evans award, given to the top student in the Pastoral Ministries department.

Jason has served as the managing editor of Preview magazine, senior writer at Insight for Living ministries, and adjunct professor at Chafer Theological Seminary. He has been a teacher and a coach. He has traveled to Amsterdam, France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Spain, Morocco, and Ireland. He has visited the Ann Frank house, the Eiffel Tower, the beaches of Normandy, the Cliffs of Moher, and the Vatican. Also the Alhambra, the Parthenon, Mars Hill, and Check Point Charley.

Jason served as the pastor of a church in northwest Oklahoma for over eight years before accepting his current position as the Senior Minister at Christian Church of Midland in Texas.

Jason lives in Midland, Texas with his wife Kristi. He has three grown children, two golden retrievers, and a cat he calls Boogie. He loves Texas Aggie sports, woodworking, leathercraft, reading, and writing.
